Boasting idyllic surrounds straight out of a Jane Austen novel, The Little Mill Inn is tucked away amongst Derbyshire's rolling hills, on the edge of the Peak District.

Should you find yourself with a hankering for fine food and drink while exploring all that the area has to offer - be it hill walking (the whole of the Peak District National Park is within easy reach of The Little Mill), a spot of clay pigeon shooting, or a visit to Chatsworth House, which appeared in the 2005 film adaptation of Pride and Prejudice - you'd be hard pushed to find a prettier place in which to satisfy your cravings.

The original mill wheel was lost when the building that housed it was swept away in the great flood of 1930. The wheel has since been rebuilt and provides an extraordinary backdrop for a three-course meal on the riverside terrace with the family, or a pint of bitter sipped slowly on a sunny afternoon. If you're visiting for lunch or dinner, why not begin with peppered smoked mackerel with salad and horseradish cream, then tuck into a hearty steak and ale pie with seasonal vegetables and pastry. Delicious, hearty fare served in delightful surroundings - this is the stuff that dreams are made of.
