If you're out and about in Glossop, or perhaps partaking in a walk along the Longdendale Trail, be sure to take a break at The Bluebell Wood. Run for the last three and a half years by Chris, who has 25 years' experience in running pubs, The Bluebell Wood has undergone a full refurbishment and boasts contemporary yet cosy furnishings and a fantastic new terrace for alfresco drinking and dining. A talented new chef is cooking up a storm in the kitchen, creating both satisfying classics and exciting new dishes.

The Bluebell Wood is a friendly place to pop into for a quick coffee or tea, a quiet pint and a read of the papers, or to treat the family to a meal - especially thanks to their great range of children's dishes. Lunchtimes see a wide selection of tasty sandwiches on offer, with fillings including cheese, tomato and chutney, Cajun chicken with mayo and lettuce, and tender strips of steak with onions and mushrooms. Those after something substantial, meanwhile, will be spoilt for choice too; start with the soup of the day or garlic mushrooms, followed by a hearty main of chilli and rice, beer-battered cod and chips, homemade burger, or braised rump steak in red wine sauce with onions, buttered mushrooms and new potatoes. Make sure you save room for dessert, as the likes of chocolate fudge cake and apple pie and ice cream are too good to turn down.
