The Sportsman

Found on the road leading to Kinder Scout, one of the Peak District's top walking attractions, The Sportsman is an obvious choice for activity weekends away. There are charming bedrooms available for overnight stays, and a cosy but spacious pub and restaurant where you can huddle around a roaring open fire and enjoy a pint of real ale - the selection always includes a guest. There is an excellent selection of homemade dishes, created using produce from the local area. The steak and ale pie is locally renowned, the cod loin wrapped in bacon a tasty treat and the Sportsman burger juicy and hearty. On Sundays it's all about the roasts, and the weekly changing specials add further choice for the indecisive. A full English breakfast is served to staying guests. Outside, there's a lovely garden for lazy summer days, and well behaved dogs are welcome at this gateway to the Pennine Way
