The Manor House is located at the edge of the charming village of Quorn, in the heart of the beautiful Charnwood countryside. This popular country pub with well-appointed guest rooms is renowned for its excellent service, food and drink. The bar is vibrant, serving a diverse range of local ale and 30 different wines by the glass, and the adjoining restaurant provides a welcome oasis for weary walkers after making their way around the Beacon Hills, Bradgate Park and the Great Central Railway.
The pub has been owned and run by Phil and Kara for the past 13 years, during which time they’ve garnered an enviable reputation for stylishly presented, locally sourced food. You’re guaranteed a warm welcome from the friendly, efficient staff whether you’re visiting for a quick lunch or a lazy dinner. For lunch, you might try the set menu, with two courses priced at £12.95 and three courses for £16.95. The extensive à la carte menu showcases meat from local butchers, game from local shoots and a selection of fish and vegetarian meals. If you’re visiting in the evening, try the Burleighs gin-steamed mussels with chilli and tamarind and homemade bread to start, before moving on to the roasted guinea fowl supreme with heritage carrot textures, red wine gravy and crispy potato curls. Other enticing mains include baked sea bass with a pine nut and chervil crust, red wine onions, baby turnips and parsnip purée. Finish your meal with a heavenly dessert, such as crème fraîche panna cotta complemented by an orange and mint sorbet and blackberry coulis, or dark chocolate mousse cup served with coffee cream and sable biscuits.
The Manor’s Sunday roasts are among the best in the area, so why not tuck into traditional, hearty dinners in a laid-back family-friendly atmosphere? There’s plenty to choose from, with the full à la carte and children’s menus also on offer, plus ample parking and an acre of land for little ones to run around, as well as a lovely sunny, large deck with views of the passing steam trains.
Why not make a night of it and stay in the converted barn? With seven new, individually styled rooms, priced from just £100 per night including breakfast, The Manor House is well worth a visit.
