Westfield House Hotel can be found in Blaby village, south of Leicester's city centre and only minutes from Junction 21 of the M1. The recently re-branded Time Out @ Westfield House restaurant is under the watchful eye of a new management team, who have been working alongside long-standing head chef Carl Shingler. Development has been the new key focus, whilst keeping a traditional yet contemporary feel to the menu - this has been achieved by setting out a new individually priced menu with price ranges to suit all diners. Fresh homemade dishes populate the new selection, with ingredients sourced as locally as possible. In addition to the main menu you'll find an ever-changing specials board, which boasts seasonal produce as well as lighter bites and the occasional wine offer.

Diners can expect exceptional service from new restaurant manager Paul Mannerings (pictured below with sous chef Adam Abbott), who has taken charge and added a luxurious feel to the homely restaurant. Once ensconced at a candlelit table, we perused the menu. I automatically ordered the crab and pollock fishcakes - packed with succulent fish and a taster of fluffy potato. I struggled to decide on my main meal, as the lemon-roasted chicken and sirloin steak, which had just gone past me to another table, both looked remarkable and very well proportioned. I finally decided to try one of the restaurant's most popular dishes, which came highly recommended; five very generous spicy beef meatballs served on a bed of spaghetti with lashings of thick, rich and slightly spiced tomato sauce. Although I barely had room to spare, desserts were offered and I couldn't resist a wellpresented macchiato and a superlative French apple tart - I didn't leave a crumb. After enjoying such a wonderful meal, I booked a table for Sunday lunch, having heard rumours that the Yorkshire puddings are the biggest I would ever see. Time Out @ Westfield House offers set menus for private dinners from as little as £12.95; the same price as the three-course Sunday lunch menu. The restaurant can cater for up to 60 guests and there are private rooms available throughout the hotel, so you'll find Westfield House Hotel and its team very accommodating no matter what your need or occasion.
