Moorhen Restaurant at The Charwood
Sheffield Road, Nr. Blyth, Worksop, S81 8HF
Located in wonderfully picturesque countryside near the North Nottinghamshire village of Blyth, The Charnwood Hotel is renowned for providing superb service and unforgettable food. Managed by the same family for over 25 years, the hotel's ethos of providing an exceptional restaurant, social haven and wedding venue has stood the test of time. That is not to say that the hotel has ever rested on its laurels - there is always a programme of new and exciting offers to tempt almost anyone. The Moorhen's head chef, Andrew Galloway, is known locally for his keen desire to present homemade traditional British food at affordable prices. Andrew prides himself on his homemade pastries, desserts, wholesome meat pies and fish dishes, so if you're looking for the traditional, you will have to pay this place a visit. Take advantage of the hotel's bar meals, or, if you fancy something rather special, head over to the Moorhen Restaurant. Here the food is of the highest standard, and where possible all meat and vegetables are locally sourced from farms, butchers and fishmongers. When speaking about the service he aims to provide at the restaurant Andrew says: 'I always want my patrons to enjoy their food, as presentation is just as important as taste. So if they would like something that is not on the menu, I am delighted to discuss their requirements and cook for them.' Late summer sees the launch of delicious afternoon teas, available each day between 3pm and 6pm, as well as a steak night each Tuesday. Friday afternoons are dedicated to the simple, wholesome English pleasure that is fish and chips - available each Friday between noon and 6pm, this is a great opportunity to enjoy a true British speciality. Or, if you fancy a little treat, why not take advantage of their Moorhen package? For just £125 two people can enjoy overnight accommodation, a three-course dinner and a full English breakfast. Exceptional value. The Charnwood is committed to delivering great food and service, all at excellent value. Their food is authentic and the hotel can be enjoyed whatever the occasion. Equally perfect for a pint after work as it is for a special occasion or family Sunday lunch, The Charnwood is an unforgettable place to visit.
