The Black Swan is a family-owned free house prominently positioned on Belper Market Place, in the heart of the town. It offers a wide variety of high-quality food and drink, seven days a week. The McCready family arrived in 2004 and have transformed this, now very charming, establishment both inside and out. Well known for offering a sophisticated environment (children under ten are not permitted in the bar), The Black Swan is the perfect place to chill out with friends and family and enjoy drinks, snacks or a meal.

If you're hungry, this is the place to be. Lunchtimes from Monday to Saturday are a great time to try the pub's popular omelettes, sandwiches and breakfasts. All this is available alongside an ever-changing blackboard menu - offering delights such as goat's cheese salad, homemade burgers and traditional favourites - available into the evening service. Tapas-style little plates are another of The Black Swan's specialities.

On Fridays and Saturdays the evening menu is available in the Swan's intimate lounge bar on the lower-ground floor, while Sundays see a choice of roast dinners together with selected favourites, little plates and homemade puddings. Try the Mars Bar cheesecake or sticky toffee pudding, served with homemade custard or, indeed, homemade ice cream.
