With winter now just weeks away and the weight of a year’s hard work pressing down on you, a much deserved wine-fuelled retreat to the romantic Welsh countryside might be the exact remedy you need to restore your summer glow. Whether as a Christmas gift for yourself and a loved one to look forward to in the new year, or a way to distress before the panic of Christmas truly sets in, there are few more idyllic spots in the country to decompress than at the beautiful Llanerch Vineyard.

Just a stone’s throw from Cardiff’s bustling city centre in the Vale of Glamorgan, what could be better than waking up to a picture-perfect rural landscape and looking forward to a delicious breakfast after a tour of the vineyard and a night enjoying wine and a three-course feast in the award-winning restaurant!?

Available Monday to Thursday until 30th November 2019, you can even enjoy 10% off a Wine Escape at Llanerch Hotel, the UK’s first vineyard hotel, which includes an overnight stay in one of their fantastic rooms, a £35 dinner allowance in Llanerch Restaurant for two, a vineyard tour and wine tasting or tutored tasting, ½ a bottle of Cariad still wine per person in the room on arrival, and a full Welsh breakfast.

From romantic escapes with your significant other to trips with your four-legged friends exploring the gorgeous countryside surroundings of the vineyard, Llanerch Hotel has the perfect accommodation for your needs. Boasting beautifully appointed rooms with wonderful views across the grounds and the surrounding hills and fields, except the highest standard of style and comfort all within a quiet and peaceful setting.

The hotel even offers rooms especially designed to accommodate dogs. Located on the ground floor and featuring hard floors so you don’t have to worry about being charged an expensive fee for getting the carpet all muddy, your dog will get his own bed, water bowl, treats, doggy bags and towels, as well as plenty of outdoor space to run around in. A supplement of £20 per dog (maximum of two dogs) per night applies.

Switch off with a glass of wine, explore the grounds, or take a short drive to the region’s numerous beaches before returning to the restaurant to sample the regularly changing menu that makes the most of the freshest and finest seasonal Welsh produce available throughout the year.

If you’re visiting the restaurant in the evening, expect to enjoy the likes of a starter of wood pigeon served with bacon, black pudding and glazed-onion salad, soft egg, and honey dressing followed by a hearty dish of braised shin of beef with mushroom puree, pearl barley, glazed onion and chips. The thirty-day-aged cuts of supreme Welsh beef paired with thick mushroom ketchup, confit shallot, hand-cut chips and crispy caperberries are also an absolute highlight. Vegans are also catered to with dishes like the chickpea chaat, served with pomegranate, coriander and spicy Bombay mix.

If you’re after something a little more elegant than steak, afternoon tea at Llanerch Restaurant shouldn’t be overlooked. For an added treat, why not upgrade to include a glass of Cariad sparkling wine as you dive into delights like egg and cress sandwiches, raspberry and almond tarts, and lavender sugar-infused Welsh cakes?
