Talented and experienced head chef and owner Antonio Abbati knows great Italian cuisine. With a passion for food that runs through his blood, Antonio came to the UK with a dream of running an Italian restaurant beloved by locals in the community and that’s a dream he’s clearly accomplished. When Antonio first arrived in the UK, he worked alongside his cousin at Trattoria Conti in Nottingham, gaining experience and honing his craft before taking the lead in his very own restaurant, La Capanna. Inspired by greats such as Antonio Carluccio and Raymond Blanc, Antonio Abbati’s creativity and culinary skill is evident in everything that leaves his kitchen. Working with local suppliers and foraging ingredients wherever possible, if you’re searching for fresh, seasonal, and traditional home-cooked Italian dishes, all at surprisingly great value for money considering the quality, the well-balanced menus at La Capanna certainly won’t disappoint.
Start your genuine Italian dining experience at La Capanna with starters such as the scrumptious sundried tomato and olive bruschetta or the artichoke hearts sautéed with tomato and garlic before moving onto mouth-watering mains like steak with red wine and mushroom sauce or monkfish with prawns, tomatoes, and white wine sauce, both accompanied by well-seasoned rosemary potatoes and vegetables.

When we visited this special Italian restaurant in Nottingham, we were impressed by the kitchen team’s ability to alter dishes according to the dietary requirements of our guests. Our dairy intolerant guest was assured that she could choose any dish from the menu and it would be altered especially for her. She left enthusing over her dinner at La Capanna.
