26 Watermouth Road, Hele Bay, Ilfracombe, EX34 9QY
This hidden gem stands by one of Devon’s most underappreciated coastal beauty spots, Hele Bay. Historically a wreckers beach where coal ships bound for Ilfracombe were lured onto the rocks, nowadays this pleasant beach is known for stunning views, rock climbing and plentiful rock pools for young explorers. After a day in the sun, wander over to Hele Billy’s where a warm welcome awaits the whole family, including your pups. Why not refresh yourself with a glass of local ale and a bite to eat? Perhaps choose pan-seared Devon scallops with chorizo, pea purée and a honey glaze to start, and an exquisite mixed seafood platter to follow. The fresh fish dishes are certainly a highlight, but there is a great selection of meat and vegetarian dishes too. There is also an excellent Caribbean evening on Thursdays, with exceptional authentic dishes like jerk pork belly, red snapper
