Make your Christmas celebrations truly magical this year at one of the most enchanting and unforgettable venues in Bristol’s city centre, the Glassboat Brasserie. This timeless and iconic restaurant provides an idyllic setting for that special festive shindig your friends, family, or co-workers won’t soon forget.

As the name suggests, this elegant restaurant operates out of a beautiful boat moored to Bristol’s historic Floating Harbour with floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering stunning views across the water where, at night, the colourful lights of the city at Christmas time reflect their festive, fairytale charm across the harbour’s calm surface. When you walk along the old, cobbled streets towards this unique setting, you’ll instantly be captivated by the restaurant’s unique character; truly, there’s no more memorable venue in the city than this.

Specialising in creating exquisite classic French dishes, though the food here may be simple, what it lacks in overcomplication it more than makes up for in big flavours and exceptional presentation; there’s a reason this is one of our favourite restaurants in our home city.

This Christmas, the Glassboat Brasserie offers a festive menu that features a special seasonal selection of sophisticated and stunning bistro classics inspired by France’s favourite and finest dishes. Their three-course Christmas lunch menu, available at the set price of £27.50, includes starters like lobster a l’Americaine and duck liver parfait with Madeira jelly and brioche. For mains, try the more traditional butter-roasted Norfolk Turkey with goose fat potato cake, chestnuts, and bread sauce, or the slow-cooked cheeks of Devon red beef with caramelised winter vegetables and aligot potatoes. And if all that wasn’t enough, swoon over their figgy pudding with butterscotch sauce or St Emilion au chocolat, a bitter chocolate cake with rum, amaretti biscuits and crème fraîche.

Their Christmas dinner, available for the set price of £35 per person, includes all the delicious dishes off the lunch menu, but with sheep’s cheese gougères to share as you wait for your starters and coffee and madeleines to finish.

We know that year after year, Christmas can start to feel stale and uninspired – the same settings over and over, the same food and drink, the same music – so much so that every Christmas begins to blend into one. Stand out this year and let the people in your life experience a little piece of Paris in the heart of Bristol for themselves. Whether you’re looking for a venue to host a Christmas party for your colleagues or a family get-together, we couldn’t recommend the Glassboat Brasserie highly enough.

Their main restaurant can cater to smaller groups on a non-exclusive basis or larger groups of 50 on an exclusive basis. The lower deck private dining room can also cater for up to 40 guests.
