Cutting edge for gastropubs of this kind in the area, The Barley Mow in Westminster is sure to wow the city with its stunning new vegan menu full of delicious, far-from-boring vegan dishes. If you’ve never visited this charming and welcoming gastropub located on Horseferry Road, about a 10-minute walk from the Houses of Parliament and Victoria Station, this new vegan menu gives you the perfect excuse to head on down to this popular haunt – not that you’d need an excuse mind you.
Serving up a sensational and constantly changing selection of cask conditioned ales, draught and bottled lagers, and the finest wines from all around the world, The Barley Mow is hugely popular with government officials and characters from the many local businesses within the vibrant and cultural local community of South Westminster – especially when a major sporting event is being shown on the venue’s big screen. Now, the pub is hoping the venue will be popular for its great vegan selection too.
Every dish on this cutting-edge new menu is not only vegan-friendly, but homemade from scratch, including the burger buns, chips, and tartare sauce. Their reimagined British pub classics, like their mixed bean and mushroom sausage and mash with onion gravy and chutney and their Tofish and chips, seaweed-wrapped beer-battered Tofu with hand-cut chips, mushy peas, and homemade vegan tartar, are must tries.
Our favourite dish, however, has to be their whole food, plant-based Buddha bowl; a big and beautiful jam-packed bowl featuring turmeric-roasted cauliflower and chickpeas, beetroot, cherry tomatoes, and harissa butternut squash with homemade guacamole, hummus and tasty toasted seeds.
If none of these dishes appeal to you (you obviously haven’t tried them yet!), the vegan menu also features a sensational soup of the day, a chickpea and sweetcorn burger with hand-cut chips and house pickled cucumber ribbon, and scrumptious tacos with spicy homemade salsa and guacamole. Still not converted? Well, then their regular menu complete with steak, fish and chips, and a range of sandwiches, burgers, snacks and sharing boards still awaits you here.
If the thought of these vegan treats tempt you – and they should – there’s no better time to come and try them out than on Mondays when their #meatfreemonday promotion saves you 20% off of all the items on their vegan menu.
