The Toast Room is a truly independent eatery, run by couple Kate and John. The café’s enticing teal exterior gives an insight into the bright and airy space inside. White walls, potted plants, cheery tunes and colourful Formica furniture blend to create a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Kate and John are advocates for local, affordable produce and aim to source everything within a 50-mile radius. Coffee is supplied by Extract Coffee; salad is from The Severn Project, and milk from Bruton Dairy. The menu comprises light bites and salads, and includes gluten-free, vegan and veggie options all made to order. There are four toast options to choose from, all of which are supplied by The Park Bakery.
My partner ordered the chargrilled pepper and hazelnut pesto Victoria Park sourdough toastie, while I went for the delicious garlic mushrooms and mascarpone on Bristol bloomer toast with leaves. The aromatic Earl Grey and honey cake, and indulgent vegan dark chocolate brownie left a lasting impression.
