Not only is The Pointer a perfect idyllic rural pub in between The Cotswolds & Chilterns Hills, but also they have some beautiful rooms where you can stay the night. On site, they have a kitchen garden and butchers, so you can not only sample the delicious food created & prepared as locally as it is possible, but you can also take a few choice cuts home with you.
The restaurant itself is a lovingly restored barn which has won awards and rumour has it, it’s where the members involved in the great train robbery divided their loot after the crime…
Executive Head Chef James Graham has learnt his trade through some of the best kitchens in the country and has a passion for authentic, honest and delicious food. Ultimately his desire to use the best ingredients possible in a genuinely British kitchen has bought him to the Pointer to create a truly individual style of sustainable, responsible, farm to table dinning where the story of those ingredients becomes the rhythm of a kitchen.
The Pointer has recently opened their four beautifully decorated rooms to be booked from just £130per night. They have used modern and stylish tones and bought in luxurious furniture and fabrics. Everything is tied in nicely to the history of the venue and you can appreciate the beautiful red brick walls. Views from the rooms look out across the 250 acre farm.
Since 2004 owner David Howden and farmer/butcher Jon Wilkins have been building up a thriving herd of English Longhorn cattle as well as a sizeable family of rare breed pigs. Their love of food and passion for breeding animals has led to the production of the highest quality meat and charcuterie.
As well as sourcing beef, pork and lamb from The Pointer Farm we have a number of additional local producers and suppliers with whom we have established a close working relationship, this allows us to confidently supply our customers with consistent quality produce throughout the year.
