Escape to the countryside at the charming Grade II listed Bailbrook House Hotel. Here, you can sample a lovely meal – and at a great price too, thanks to our two for one Sunday roast offer. Set amidst 20 acres of grounds is the historic mansion, which has undergone an impressive £10m restoration.
Inside the Mansion House you’ll find 13 beautifully decorated bedrooms – including a range of gorgeous suites – as well as the two-AA-rosetted restaurant Cloisters restaurant and the light-filled Conservatory Bar. It was here in the conservatory that we sampled the new Sunday lunch. The three-course offering has been created by head chef Jonathan Machin, who has blended traditional recipes with modern techniques to create a menu that is bound to make your mouth water. From the bill of fare we chose to begin with the cauliflower soup, before moving onto the main event. The meat of the day was beef, which was served pink and accompanied by perfectly crispy roast potatoes, a giant Yorkshire pudding and a medley of vegetables. All of the components were perfectly done – it was a veritable feast of flavour, colour and texture. Finishing our meal on a sweet note, my partner chose the indulgent warm chocolate fudge sundae, while I enjoyed delicious apple crumble paired with a generous portion of custard.
After our exemplary meal we made our way to the lawn and relaxed in the sun, taking in the idyllic views of the surrounding hills. The grounds are also home to Bailbrook Court, inside which you’ll find a further cadre of 81 lovely rooms, Lansdown restaurant and corporate facitilies in the Brunel Suite.
