For those living and working in the city centre, and South-Bristolians wishing they had a great organic health store nearby, the long wait has come to an end!

Better Food has just opened its third store in the exciting new harbourside development in Wapping Wharf.

Better Food, which already has stores in St. Werburghs and Clifton, is well known on the Bristol food scene for championing locally grown, ethically sourced, Fairtrade produce. It’s a health food store with a conscience: the ethos here is to make organic food more accessible, while also actively supporting the dozens of local farmers, producers and artisans who supply the store.

The new store offers an impressive range of organic fruit and veg, fresh bread hailing from Hobbs House Bakery, organic meat and poultry, grocery items, on-the-go lunches, in addition to a good selection of natural beauty and bodycare products, and supplements.

Foot-weary foodies will appreciate a stop-off in the café. It serves fresh, home-cooked vegetarian and vegan dishes, soups and salads, sweet treats, and a wide range of teas, coffees and fresh juices – all made using organic ingredients. Particularly worthy of mention are the all-day brunches (served until 3pm) – a surprisingly broad offering with options including almond milk porridge with fresh, preserved and fermented fruits (£5.50); avocado guacamole on toast with leaves and tamari pumpkin seeds (£6); and huevos rancheros (£8.50).

Visitors to the café with laptops will find free Wi-Fi, power points and USB chargers, and a vase of fresh flowers to cheers up their working day. They can also gaze up at the huge colourful, hand-painted bee mural on the wall, which was created by local artist Andy Council. Alternatively there are seats outside on the sunny terrace.
