Read on to find out how to get your mitts on a pair of tickets to this veggie extravaganza…
Mother’s Day weekend saw over 5000 visitors attend VegFest Brighton. The event was a massive success and saw guest appearances from vegan ex-Everton footballer Neil Robinson, Goldblade frontman John Robb and well-renowned nutritionist Gareth Zeal, as well as 125 stalls, talks, demos, short films, comedy and a fundraising auction for the Animal Welfare Party.
Europe’s biggest vegetarian and vegan event really knows how to put on a show. At the Bristol festival, you can peruse the hundreds of stalls selling their vegan wares, before sitting back, basking in the sun with a vegan beer in hand, and enjoying the good life serenaded by the sound of lapping water and the various musicians who take to the stage throughout the days. Take your time and chill, sampling your way across the cuisines – all ethical and vegan friendly, of course – or pack your weekend full of events and attend the comedy shows, cooking demos, cinema, informative talks on health and nutrition, and children’s workshops (featuring Captain James Tea Cook).
If the daytimes are about the food, the evenings are certainly about the entertainment. While last year saw a bit of an 80s revival thanks to the headliners, Happy Mondays, this year shimmies into the 70s with a disco theme – it’s time to whip out those neon flares! Friday evening announces VegFest’s presence in suitably grand style; 70s pop sensations Boney M will be boogieing on stage, followed by Gwen Dickey’s Rose Royce. Saturday has a punk vibe, with Peter Hook and The Light and Ruts DC and John Robb’s Goldblade. Wind down on the Sunday with a bit of reggae – I plan to do so with a vegan curry (served in a hollow crown loaf, no less) and a vegan milkshake.
We’re working with VegFest to offer you the opportunity to win two tickets to the festival on the evening of Friday 23rd May OR Saturday 24th May at the Harbourside in Bristol. You can enter in one of the following ways.
The competition ends on the 30th April, with the winners being announced in the first week of May. Good luck!
