We chat to Giacomo Fantini and Leonardo Cecchi, two of the founders of new London restaurant Tuscanic, ahead of their appearance at Soho Food Feast…
What is the concept behind the restaurant?
Tuscanic is a traditional deli-café serving selected Tuscan specialities. Tuscany offers quite superior ingredients, and ourmission is to spread its values. At Tuscanic, every material, ingredient and detail comes from Tuscany. Artisans and small producers are selected on the basis of quality and tradition. We also import premium products directly and exclusively.
What are your favourite dishes?
The menu revives the Tuscan tradition of ‘merende’ – a snack given to reward farmers for a job well done. Tuscanic serves soups, salads and cheese boards, as well as seasonal specials using top-notch ingredients. We love the plump Panini and charcuterie.
What will you be bringing to Soho Food Feast?
At Soho Food Feast we will focus on a selection of crostoni – toasted slices of rustic bread topped with a combination of cured meats, cheeses, vegetables and Tuscan-style spreads.
Can we expect any demonstrations?
We don’t have a kitchen at Tuscanic – we handle every ingredient at the counter, in front of our customers. We will do the same at Soho Food Feast.
What are you looking forward to at the festival?
Sharing with the festival the Tuscan joy for food!
What do you think of Soho’s dining out scene?
Soho is a magic melting pot of different foods!
What plans do you have for the future?
Tuscanic is our very first project outside of Italy and it is not even one year old, so it’s a little too early to think about anything else at the moment!
