Emma Cullen kick-starts her metabolism for British Sandwich Week…
This week Britain is paying tribute to its first fast-food, by way of British Sandwich Week. Butties, baps, rolls, baguettes, wraps and even panini have become part of our culinary culture, and with so many delicious variations on this great British classic, what’s not to celebrate?
Across the country, schools are cracking open the canteen to get children involved in making their own creations, hungry workers are supporting their local sandwich shops and some will be off to Mapperton Estate, home of the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, for an evening of entertainment and sandwiches!
In a bid to jazz up our unhealthy office desk-dining and join the nation in celebrating the humble sandwich, we are paying this tasty snack every respect throughout the week.
Today Emma kick-started British Sandwich Week with a rather healthy-looking bread roll – and a miraculous sliver of lunchtime sunshine. Armed with delicious hummus, watercress, cucumber and roasted vegetables on a hearty brown roll, Emma headed out into the blustery sun to enjoy the fresh air and catch up with a good book. This healthy sandwich is able to fuel our girl Em throughout the afternoon, and getting outside and blowing away the cobwebs is said to make you even more productive once back inside the office.
