Next month sees the return of the hugely popular Derbyshire Food Festival at Elvaston Castle Country Park. Taking place over the weekend of 18th May, the festival is set to draw a considerable crowd – and with good reason. Last year’s event set the bar high, with over 13,500 visitors flocking to peruse the food fair wares and have a peek at the cookery theatre, where chefs such as Simon Rimmer generously shared their culinary prowess. The calibre of this year’s festival is bound to be just as impressive, with over 150 stalls showcasing exciting and exotic foods alongside the very best of produce from the beautiful Derbyshire and Peak District area. Visitors will have the chance to wander the grounds if they wish, and they will also be able to take advantage of a convenient free shuttle running from the city centre.
In the cookery theatre this year will be TV chef Valentine Warner, as well as numerous famed local chefs – who will be conjuring their favourite signature dishes throughout the duration of the festival – and a top-secret celebrity for the Sunday, as yet to be revealed. Meanwhile, in the arts and crafts marquee, many local artists and craftsmen will be displaying their contemporary artwork and homemade goods. The ever-popular demonstrations will be back, as well as lots of fun and informative exhibits and activities for kids – don’t miss it!
