Three merry bloggers nobly volunteer to sample The Living Room’s latest mixology magic…
For a chocolate fix this Easter, forget the eggs – instead head to Bristol’s Living Room. The innovative team at this city-centre bar and restaurant have concocted some cocoa-inspired cocktails – dubbed Chocktails – to set your sweet-loving palate on a path to pure pleasure.
Launched in celebration of upcoming Mother’s Day and in honour of Easter, the list of new, smooth libations features the Chocolate Orange Martini, the Mochatini and the Cherry Chocolate Delight. As self-proclaimed chocoholics, it was with little persuasion late on Friday afternoon that we entered The Living Room and tried all three.
We three intrepid cocktail samplers each had a different favourite. Michelle Grady went for the more ‘grown-up’ of the selection – a Mochatini with Kahlua, a shot of espresso, Stolichnaya vodka, chocolate liqueur and sugar syrup, shaken with a milk and cream combo (used in all three concoctions) that created a light, foamy top to this dark and intense drink. My Chocolate Orange Martini was subtle and not too sweet, but with sufficient kick provided by the Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Rum and Grand Marnier. Emma Cullen’s fun and flirty Cherry Chocolate Delight – with white chocolate liqueur, Cherry Heering and vodka – was superb for slow sipping and slipped down rather too easily. You’ll definitely want more than one, and, as they’re just £4 each, you’ll be able to have exactly that.
Although the reality is that I still want at least one Easter egg, I think I’ll be doubling up on the naughtiness and going for a bit of liquid indulgence too.
