Orestone Manor
Stylishly refurbished as a colonial manor house, Orestone Manor was built in 1809 and was once the home of painter John Calcott Horsley RA, whose celebrated portrait of his brother-in-law, Isambard Kindom Brunel, hangs in the National Gallery. Horsley is also renowned for having painted the very first Christmas card.
Today, the dwelling is a luxury country house hotel and restaurant recently described as 'chic - with a down-toearth atmosphere, attentive staff and great food'. Located on the rural fringe of Torquay, with stunning views across the Torbay coastline and Lyme Bay, each room has its own decor and character with full amenities, luxury en-suite bathrooms, and some have their own terrace or balcony.
The award-winning restaurant at Orestone Manor has been accredited with a Michelin star for 2006 and has an enviable reputation for excellent service, and fantastic food and wine.
Executive head chef Darron Bunn uses the finest seasonal local produce that Devon has to offer and heads up a team of young, passionate and enthusiastic chefs aspiring to produce food that consistently exceeds customers' expectations. Whether for a relaxing break, lunch with friends or a special dinner, Orestone Manor provides the perfect setting and will add style and elegance to any occasion. Room rates start at just £135, inclusive of VAT and full English breakfast.
