The Orchid Restaurant, situated on the first floor of the award-winning Corbyn Head Hotel, is one Torquay dining experience you can’t afford to miss. The accolades that this seafront restaurant has won speak for themselves – it has been awarded three AA rosettes once again for 2011, one of only three restaurants in Devon to do so. This year they have also received recognition from the Harden’s, Michelin and Trencherman’s guides.

The Orchid benefits from an amazing location, with stunning views across Torbay from the Torquay Marina to Brixham’s Berry Head. On arrival at the Corbyn Head Hotel guests are served canapés and pre-meal drinks in the lounge, bar or on the terrace before being escorted to the restaurant. Diners can select such stunning creations as roast saddle and confit belly of lamb with baby artichokes and saffron jus. Main course options include delights such as locally line-caught sea bass with crab ravioli and caramelised fennel and vanilla. Indulge in warm banana cake, cookie ice cream and caramelised banana from a plethora of mouth-watering desserts. Finally, house-ground Arabica coffee is served with the finest petit fours. Lunches are served daily, with prices from £18.95 per person, and evening meals from £32.50 per person.

Reader offer: mention this guide on booking and receive ten per cent off your food bill. This offer is available from Tuesday to Friday inclusive (excludes special dates such as Valentine’s Day, Christmas and Bank Holidays).
