Langtrys Restaurant
Situated amongst six acres of gardens that stretch down to the breathtaking Meadfoot Beach, the majestic Osborne Hotel has an air of 1920s seaside glamour. A most serene and spectacular place in which to relax, there could be nothing better than enjoying a gin and tonic in the lounge bar, or on the terrace while pondering over the menu of its prestigious restaurant – Langtry’s.
The hotel team pride themselves on the personal touches that make any stay here memorable, and the care taken in their restaurant is no exception. The Regency-style dining room’s cream decor, high ceilings and chandeliers form a beautiful backdrop for your evening. The menu comprises fine British favourites cooked with modern culinary flair, using local ingredients; and with two courses offered at £18.50 and three at £22.50, dinner here is a very affordable indulgence. Tempting dishes include seared scallops with pancetta and poached haddock milk foam; goat’s cheese tart accompanied by creamed picked walnuts and William’s pear risotto; and slow-roasted pork belly with calf’s liver and a cherry and Port caramel.
Of the exquisitely presented desserts, the dark chocolate fondant covered in chocolate sauce and served with homemade ginger ice cream comes highly recommended. Langtry’s Restaurant stocks an excellent selection of wine and offers friendly but slick service – perfect for a celebration dinner, entertaining clients or simply a lovely treat for two.
