This fantastic free house is steeped in history – it began life as three weavers’ cottages built around 1460, and took on its current guise approximately 450 years ago. The Hoop boasts handsome brick fireplaces and is ornamented throughout by original timber framework. This is a hostelry that’s packed with character and interest – and plenty of real ales and delicious food too.
The Hoop’s wide range of guest ales changes daily, including everything from light summer ales through to dark winter stouts. To match this quality, head chefs Phil and Michelle have created a daily food menu of traditional home-cooked dishes. In the bar, diners can refuel with hearty meals or a range of delicious sandwiches. In the ‘Oak Room Dining Room’, you can relax in elegantly formal surroundings, complete with waitress service and a seasonal à la carte menu.
The Oak Room is a function room, fantastic for any special occasion or event. With seating for up to 40, or 50 for buffets, it makes a particularly charming location for wedding functions. The Hoop’s beer festival is not be missed; for over 20 years it has been attracting beer enthusiasts from as far afield as Australia. If an alehouse is where your heart is, then you are guaranteed to fall in love with The Hoop.
