Kami Soroush, with his wife Azi, purchased The Red Lion in April 2005. Since then it has become established as one of the premier restaurants in the Vale of Glamorgan. Come and experience fine dining at the hands of Kami, an award-winning media chef, and his team.

The Red Lion is only a 15-minute drive from the busy capital city of Cardiff in the picturesque village of Pendoylan. The Vale’s best-kept secret, The Red Lion boasts a celebrity guest list and an inspirational menu.

Kami has over 27 years of experience in the catering profession. His personality and propensity to win awards for his expertise have made him popular with the media. He has made over 50 television appearances and currently contributes regularly on BBC Radio Wales. The Red Lion was included in the Which? Good Food Guide 2007.

Although heavily French in style, the menu takes influence from countries around the world, including Persian cooking with a modern flair. You have the choice of a full à la carte menu and also the special lunch and early-evening menus, all based on modern European cuisine. This is real cooking with good use of the best fresh, local ingredients and liberal use of herbs and spices. A dining area has been created upstairs, providing a warm and intimate setting and offering beautiful unspoiled views of the Vale and alfresco dining on the adjacent terrace.

Enticing main courses include gigot d’agneau (pot-broiled leg of lamb with saffron, lime and garlic) topped with flageolet beans; and roasted Cajun sea bass with mango and avocado salsa flavoured with lime and coriander. The lunch menu features classic gastropub choices including steak burgers and specials of the day, such as braised sirloin of beef with prunes and mandarin, served with potato and parsnip mash. Sunday lunch provides the classic roast beef, lamb, chicken and fillet of salmon options. There is also a carefully selected wine list, which complements the wonderful food and beautiful views perfectly. So, nothing but praise for The Red Lion – keep up the good work.
