Set within the elegant Hamptons interiors store, The Blue Pelican café is a haven of casual sophistication. Though it may be frosty outside, inside is a different story - relax beneath tropical palms while the staff, dressed in Hawaiian shirts, set about looking after your every need.

Start the day with breakfast, choosing anything from a bagel filled with scrambled eggs, smoked salmon or bacon, to fluffy buttermilk pancakes drizzled with syrup. For lunch, you can enjoy Hamptons favourites like the Lifeguard's Lunchbox or the Falafel Feast, or a warming bowl of Aunt Harriet Hampton's homemade soup. The Cowboy's Cookout is a regular on the specials board, along with the posh fish finger sandwich with rocket, ketchup and mayo. For a light lunch, there's a great choice of sandwiches, and you can also combine a sandwich with a bowl of hearty homemade soup. A special children's menu keeps the little ones happy and the popular Treasure Chest contains a colouring set to keep them occupied. For those too small for chairs there are highchairs and plenty of space for buggies, as well as a baby changing room.

The Blue Pelican is well known for its delicious selection of homemade cakes, as well as its freshly baked scones and desserts. The traditional afternoon tea is a real treat, and there is also a selection of glutenfree cakes. In addition to coffees and teas, the drinks menu features homemade fruit smoothies, traditional lemonade and some unusual varieties of hot chocolate including the '99', complete with a swirl of whipped cream and a chocolate flake. There are also beers, wines and Champagne.

As well as being a lively daytime café, what has become something of a best-kept secret are the evening music and dinner events. With everything from Motown and jazz to opera and musicals there's something to suit all tastes, and each event features a five-course dinner. Word has spread about these fantastic events, so book early - we wouldn't want you to miss out on this little piece of paradise.
