Chef Keith Harris and Barry Knight, front of house, make a fine team at Slipcote, combining to provide a memorable dining experience in stylish contemporary surroundings, with the opportunity to eat alfresco. Served from 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, the ŕ la carte menu is filled with all good things.

Keith’s considerable talents shine through in wonderful dishes like fillet of sole with mushrooms and prawns, and fillet steak with a cassis jus and crispy onion rings. To finish, perhaps try world-class sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce, or warm strawberries with balsamic vinegar and cracked black pepper. They also offer a magnificent cheese board supplied by their own deli. A simpler table d’hote menu is available, with two choices for each course.

This excellent restaurant is enrolled in the Gourmet Society, a fine dining club for the East Midlands. Next to the restaurant is their coffee shop and deli selling Slipcote’s own soups. Slipcote takes its name from a once famous locally-produced soft cheese. The recipe for the cheese may now be lost, but the charm and quality of its namesake restaurant is certainly here to stay.

For private parties of 16 or more people, the restaurant is also available seven days a week, and their outside catering facility is available for all occasions – just call for a chat to discuss your requirements.
