The Farmer's Daughter Restaurant
Described as ‘one of Wales’, if not the UK’s, best-kept culinary secrets’ by Voice magazine, this family-run restaurant is a culinary delight, housed in a 400- year-old converted milking parlour on a working farm. With original oak beams and nooks and crannies covered in photographs of celebrities (many of whom have dined here over the years), the restaurant has a homely old-world feel.
Since taking over the restaurant, the Newberry family has stood by its simple yet effective mission statement – the restaurant should have tablecloths on all the tables, the food should be freshly prepared and there should never be double bookings. You will never be rushed at The Farmer’s Daughter, and your table is yours for the night – the restaurant closes when the last diner leaves. Staff members are exceptionally helpful, and head chef and manager Helen Newberry is very passionate about the food she prepares. Ingredients are always fresh, bought daily and selected for their quality rather than their price. All dietary requirements are catered for, there is a well-balanced children’s menu, and an early bird menu too. Helen also has 14 exotic meats on the menu, including zebra, camel and crocodile. Traditional Sunday lunches are very popular, and just try and resist Helen’s mouth-watering homemade desserts. The Farmer’s Daughter really is a hidden treasure – discover it for yourself today.
