In February 2013 Hartnett Holder & Co was opened – a joint venture between famed chef Angela Hartnett and Lime Wood’s Luke Holder. It’s a relaxed, stylish and comfortable upscale restaurant, that’s full of character, yet unpretentious. Head chefs Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder, with their team, create locally sourced English dishes with a respectful nod to the seasons, the surrounding forest and to Italian culinary ideologies. This collaboration is reflected in their fresh, confident approach, ensuring that this is ‘fun dining’, not ‘fine dining’ – where sharing and provenance is everything.
Both Angela and Luke are known for their respect for local produce. The menu features the likes of Isle of Wight lobster, New Forest venison, homecured meats and local cheese, Blue Nanny; and fresh flavours abound in dishes such as warm hake, olive oil, fennel and razor clam.
The menu of Italian-influenced forest dishes with English classics – pulling together both chefs’ much-admired signature styles – remains constant, served together with dishes that change on a daily basis, with the forest and seasonality their driver.
