I started with a light and flavoursome sweet-potato soup, followed by a delicious fillet of halibut, accompanied by asparagus and black-olive-and-garlic-crushed new potatoes. A delicate apple tarte tatin with cinnamon ice cream provided an elegant, scrumptious finish. A selection of wines are available by the glass to accompany your meal; alternatively, choose a bottle from the Duke’s personal cellar, where fine and rare clarets are prominent.

Traditional afternoon teas provide another way to enjoy The Library’s wonderful ambience, perhaps followed by a leisurely walk through the lovely woodland nearby.
