This picturesque inn located in the heart of Kelso, with access to the beautiful surrounding Scottish Borders, was established in 1725. While still retaining all the character of this period, the interior has undergone extensive refurbishment under the new ownership, and now provides a fresh and contemporary experience for visitors. This fusion of old and new is what gives the Queen's Head Hotel such a distinctive feel - and that applies to the food as well as the decor.

The comfortable Courtyard Lounge is the perfect place to while away the afternoon with some great food and drink. The chef and his team work hard to locally source the best fresh ingredients to create their homemade fare. But the menu is not entirely traditional - well-established recipes are given the occasional twist to provide the best of both worlds.

For starters, expect to devour delicious dishes like smoked mackerel paté with melba toast and panfried chicken livers. And for the main course, dishes like rich lamb shank braised with rosemary and served with a tangy wholegrain mustard mash, or spicy beef stir fry with onions, peppers and chilli on a bed of noodles are bound to leave you satisfied. During the day a range of dishes is available, including risottos, lasagne and fresh fish. The culinary team can proudly boast that imagination and creative flair go into every meal.

The desserts change daily, and are all made from scratch using fresh ingredients. A scrumptious highlight is the thick and creamy Baileys cheesecake, which sits alongside some well-known delicious favourites - bread and butter pudding, apple crumble, banoffee pie and sticky toffee pudding.
