This pub has been the centre of village life in Beacon Hill for many years, and it now looks set to become well known beyond the boundaries of south west Surrey. New owners Chris Burdett and Vanessa Jackson are serving exceptional food in a friendly, informal atmosphere.
The menu, which changes weekly, boasts a huge variety of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes that reflect Surrey’s finest local produce. The pot roast of guinea fowl with roasted root vegetables is the chef’s speciality, and perfect for refuelling after a day spent exploring the beautiful surrounding woodland and heathland of Hindhead and Frensham. The plaice with wholegrain mustard and cream sauce with mashed potatoes, spinach and peas is equally tasty and comforting, while the crayfish, cucumber and spring onion strudel, with watercress and balsamic vinegar is a fresh and light starter.
Chris and Vanessa proudly took control of the pub with the aim of transforming the previously limited food offering into a menu of quality seasonal dishes cooked with style and skill. They have achieved this with panache, and locals should be very proud of the fabulous restaurant now on their doorstep.
