A hidden nook in the centre of bustling city life, you’ll find The Trees Restaurant through an unassuming doorway, ready to take you back to the things that really matter: good food and good company. Quirky and a little retro, this eatery will satisfy your grumbling stomach with some traditional Scottish fare. Proudly owned by the Mackenzie family, The Trees has been feeding hungry Glaswegians since 1930. Needless to say they have the combination spot on – a friendly and informal setting, with most of their ingredients sourced from within the Scottish Borders and prepared to order.
Their breakfasts are renowned throughout the city. For just £2.60, you can grab a plate filled with freshly cooked bacon, egg, sausage, beans, fried tomatoes and that all-important potato scone. Wash it down with a pot of Fairtrade tea and you’ll be set for the day. Or, if your feet are aching after a hard day’s shopping, pop by and indulge in an afternoon tea or a spot of luncheon. With two courses for lunch at a mere £5.45, three for £6.25 and the option to elevate any main course into a ‘high tea’, you’ll be leaving The Trees with a purse as full as your belly.
