It takes a lot to stand out in a busy city chock-full of fantastic restaurants, but The Living Room achieves this with aplomb. From the moment you arrive at this sophisticated restaurant and piano bar in the centre of town, the attention to excellence is quite noticeable. Greeted by pleasant doormen and quickly seated once inside, we settled down amid modern artwork and plush, comfortable furnishings arranged with intimacy in mind, to enjoy music courtesy of a live pianist – all the while being looked after by friendly waiting staff.

Following much deliberation over the menu, which included a fiery starter of tiger prawns and roasted red peppers in garlic and chilli butter, we decided on mains of tender pork with apple and potato gratin, alongside coq au vin from the ‘home comforts’ menu. A fantastic blend of flavours, this dish really rekindled fond memories of childhood mealtimes. The rum and raisin creme brulée and chocolate trifle were a heavenly conclusion to round off a marvellous evening. This Glasgow kitchen has rightfully earned its excellent reputation, becoming an ideal venue for enjoying time with loved ones. Indulge yourself in a bountiful menu – just make sure you save room to sample a cocktail or two from the bar’s exciting selection.
