Though attached to a private members' club (which encourages friendly relaxation over formality), you don't need to be a member to enjoy this multi-award-winning restaurant. Elegantly decorated and boasting stunning views of Royal Exchange Square, The Grill Room is a sophisticated venue that has played host to a number of high-profile celebrity functions. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, the impeccable service and menus meet high expectations and impress with their perfectly executed simplicity.

Award-winning head chef David Friel (chef profile page 35) and team serve a tempting à la carte selection, where the high-quality ingredients are allowed to do all the talking. Sample the local fish of the day (fresh from the market) or one of the excellent beef options. Using certified Scottish beef from naturally fed and specially selected cattle, the dizzying choice of cuts are cooked exactly to your taste on a chargrill - one taste and you too will appreciate The Grill Room's membership of the Scottish Beef Club. Order the 18oz chateaubriand to share the prize-worthy experience with a friend, perhaps with green peppercorn and brandy sauce or a blue cheese dressing. Equally appetising vegetarian choices and indulgent desserts make this a great menu for all. Sunday lunch offers a fantastic quality traditional roast with excellent vegetarian options, and, with live jazz from 3pm until 5pm, there's little more you could possibly want from a lazy afternoon.
