Mussel Inn
Whether you’re a fish fan or new to seafood, the Mussel Inn is a must. The staff at the Mussel Inn are knowledgeable and attentive, and strive to make your experience an enjoyable one. The decor is undeniably modest, but stylish and sophisticated at the same time.
Those who are fanatical about fruits de mer will be delighted with the wide choice provided by the menu, as will vegetarians and carnivores. Wines are from Italy, France, Australia and New Zealand, and the list provides helpful tips for those wishing to pair their meal with the perfect bottle. After much deliberation, we ordered the mussel platter and grilled queen scallops to start. The mussels were served in a white wine, leek and Dijon cream sauce, and served with enough rustic bread to soak up all of the wonderful juices. The grilled queen scallops were marinated in garlic butter and served on a rocket, sun-blushed tomato, Parmesan and olive salad.
For my main course, the hot seafood platter was too good to resist – the presentation of this seafood extravaganza of queen scallops, tiger prawns, mussels and sea bass was breathtaking, and the dish was perfectly accompanied by the chef’s own secret sauce. The grilled sea bass was cooked to perfection, served on a rocket, feta, new potato and roasted red pepper salad.
I highly recommend the homemade chocolate creme brulée for dessert – sweet, rich and only for devout chocoholics. Served with delicate vanilla biscuits, this petite pick-me-up was the perfect way to round off a memorable evening.
