Heart Buchanan
Heart Buchanan is a warm, friendly café-bistro offering good, honest food in an unpretentious environment. Classically French-trained chef proprietor, Craig Grozier, has had a varied cooking career; he has worked as a sous chef on the Royal Scotsman train and spent time cooking in Australia, Italy and Spain and now brings these diverse influences to the dishes he creates. The tempting menu at Heart Buchanan has smaller, lighter options, which can be eaten as a lunch or starter, as well as some more substantial main courses that are all under £8. Popular dishes include steak and hand-cut frites with a smoked Béarnaise sauce, and crispy Gloucester Old Spot pork belly with truffled canneroni pasta and Parmesan, which is Craig's own creative version of a carbonara. Ingredients used are seasonal and carefully sourced, and flavours are imaginatively combined. The café-bistro also offers a free private dining facility where guests can bring their own wine and music, enjoying three courses for £35. Craig and his partner Karen also run Heart Buchanan's delicatessen next door offering catering, cookery classes, freshly prepared takeaway food, food hampers and a mezzanine café. Food is obviously a passion at Heart Buchanan, and you'll find it difficult to find anywhere else that serves it with quite the same amount of enthusiasm. Dining at Heart Buchanan is a homely, relaxed, feel-good experience.
