Glasgow's favourite contemporary cinema, the Grosvenor, is located on the quaint and cobbled Ashton Lane. Step inside and find yourself immersed in a veritable world of movies, with giant spotlights showing you the way towards the former roof space of the cinema, where, almost in reach of the cinema's wonderful ceiling, you'll find the Grosvenor Café.
For starters, we chose eggs Benedict and scallops. My eggs were perfectly poached, the ham flavourful and the sauce a velvety delight with a tangy hint of vinegar. The scallops were toothsome and the seared caramelised top gave the tongue a tantalising treat of textures. To follow, I chose the pork belly with Stornoway black pudding, which instantly melted in the mouth - the pork was tender and delicious, its black pudding partner proving the perfect complement. My wife opted for the steak pie, which she described as the best she has ever had - the thick crust and rich gravy leaving her in comfort food heaven. The Grosvenor Café proudly uses only high-quality local suppliers, which is particularly noticeable in the excellent cheeseboard - the Cooleney and Yorkshire blue were to die for. Boasting excellent food and a lively atmosphere, the Grosvenor Café is the perfect location for soaking up the delightfully bohemian atmosphere of the West End.
