The sophisticated surroundings of Dragon i - elegant red and black decor with dramatic floral a rrangements - set off the truly artistic and original food served up in Glasgow's foremost Asian fusion destination. Food is influenced by Chinese, Malaysian, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine and given a modern twist, resulting in an incredible array and depth of flavours.

Owners Raymond and Susan Man are passionate about creating something unique and exciting - a gourmet dining experience using the finest natural ingredients and inventive techniques. The restaurant is a classy place for a night out with friends, family or colleagues; and its location adjacent to the Theatre Royal means you can start your night out here with an amazing three-course pre-theatre meal for only £16.95.

Perhaps begin with 'che ci gai' - fresh mango and mozzarella wrapped in slices of chicken breast, deep fried and served with mango sauce. An idiosyncratic combination of flavours maybe, but Dragon i isn't about convention, and this starter really works. Alternatively, for Scottish cuisine as you've never known it before, sample a true fusion dish called 'huk guen' - a dish of crispy pancakes rolled with Stornoway black pudding and a Thai chilli sauce.

Mains are all delicately spiced and bursting with flavour thanks to natural handmade stocks created using fresh produce. Thai Gai features breast of chicken with apples and pineapples in a Thai, fresh lemongrass and chilli sauce, served with garlic fried rice, or try a breast of chicken on a bed of fresh green asparagus and pak choi with shittake mushrooms and a fabulous Chardonnay sauce. Desserts are imaginative and extremely tempting, such as the lychee creme brûlée or delicious 'koko san gor' - a chocolate fondue to share. The Observer Food Monthly has named Dragon i among the top five Chinese restaurants in the UK, while chef Stephen has picked up the silver award at the Scottish Chef Awards for 'Asian Restaurant Chef of the Year 2009'. The throng of loyal customers, however, is the real testimony to the passion and dedication that goes into creating such quality food and an unforgettable dining experience.
