As the water sleepily laps at Eyemouth Harbour, with the occasional clank of the fishing boats, take the time to make The Ship Hotel your next port of call. This charming hotel welcomes diners to sample its extensive menu of classic pub fare while enjoying the beautiful outlook over the harbour.

Taking advantage of The Ship’s close proximity to the sea, the menu features ocean fare and homemade dishes aplenty. Take your seat in the 40-cover restaurant and tuck into one of the many starters. Classic haggis, neeps and tatties can be enjoyed as a starter or main; but for me it had to be mussels marinières with onions, garlic, white wine and a generous splash of cream, served with crusty, freshly home-baked bread. If after all that seafood your fancy is for something meaty, the homemade beef burgers are a must-try – eight ounces of best minced steak, seasoned simply and served in a toasted bun with relish, mayo and salad, accompanied by fries or wedges and homemade coleslaw – delicious. The lunchtime menu provides just as much choice, with the added option of filled wraps and baguettes.

After sipping one of the speciality coffees, relax and take in the unrivalled view. With wheelchair access too, this family-friendly venue welcomes one and all for drinks, lunch and dinner.
