Situated at the heart of Leith shore’s thriving bar and restaurant district, The Waterline is a cosy venue adorned with memorabilia harking back to the area’s ship-building past. The menu is traditional, with some modern twists you might not expect from a pub. For starters we had the smoked haddock fishcakes which were nice and light, and an equally tasty lentil soup with fresh bloomer bread, served warm. Mains consisted of fish pie, loaded with haddock and prawns in a creamy white wine sauce, and the chilli bowl, which had a warming kick and was pleasingly presented. Cheesecake and honeycomb ice cream made a delicious finale to a lovely meal. With fresh Italian coffee, herbal teas, draught beers, wines and bottled ales on offer, The Waterline is a great place to spend an afternoon watching the world go by.
