Rejecting the red flock wallpaper and hot curries associated with Indian restaurants, and replacing them with tropical timber blinds and delicate dishes, The Verandah has broken with tradition in favour of something more exciting. The decor is reminiscent of the first-class accommodation on the majestic liners that used to ply the route between the major points of the Empire; natural wood blinds, restrained lighting and the aroma of fine spices make every diner at The Verandah feel like a first-class passenger. This fine Indian restaurant has brought acclaim to the city of Edinburgh, creating a dining experience that has proved difficult to rival.

The restaurant has received a plethora of accolades, winning the Les Routiers 'Casserole Award' 11 years running, as well as being named 'Best Indian Restaurant' in The Good Curry Guide and 'Best Indian Restaurant' in the Scottish Good Food Guide. Restaurant critics have raved about the restaurant, and celebrities like Clint Eastwood and Sir Cliff Richard have been known to visit. Despite this critical acclaim, the attention to detail and quality of service are still first class; no amount of awards have shifted the chef's attention from providing 'the best Bangladeshi and Indian experience'.

The Verandah continues to challenge the tired image of the Indian restaurant, with its innovative wine list and fine cuisine. This restaurant is charting a new course for North Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine - may it continue to reign as one of the region's finest.
