Masterchef Martin Mitchell and his team are now in residence at this revamped pub with a contemporary dining room, offering a fantastic menu and a separate bar specialising in real ale and traditional homemade bar meals.
The menu at The Radical Road includes a real variety of dishes, with quality maintained across the board. Bread, chips, desserts, ice creams – all are homemade. Expect carefully crafted dishes such as hot salmon mousse with Scottish caviar, devilled lamb kidney crostini, chicken and white pudding soup and pollack on potato terrine. Vegetarians won’t be disappointed either, with the likes of wild mushroom and Tuscan goat’s cheese orzotto and grilled courgettes with patatas bravas and argan oil to choose from. Indulge your sweet tooth with moreish desserts like the banana and Drambuie pancake with coffee and walnut ice cream.
On the drinks side, a traditional lounge bar keeps a good stock of real ales, while their wine list is geared to suit palate and pocket alike. A popular meeting place, the pub also happily caters for all manner of functions and events. Music fans can catch live music every Friday and Saturday, and live sporting events are shown on television screens in the bar. There’s a beer garden for warmer weather and car parking is also available. This is one of those vibrant pubs where there is always something happening.
