It is really no wonder that The Peacock Inn is famed for its fish and chips – after all, it has had well over 200 years to perfect the dish. This well-established eatery has been at the heart of Newhaven since 1767, serving fresh seafood caught by Scottish fishermen in Scottish waters. It is now owned by the Carnie family, who have carried on the tradition of serving up fresh Scottish produce at affordable prices.

The building has been restored to its original glorious self, boasting high Georgian ceilings and stunning stained-glass windows. Whether you’re visiting for an intimate meal by the original fireplace or a big, boisterous family celebration, The Peacock provides the ideal setting – never failing to impress with its food, service, atmosphere and prices.

The Peacock is located just across from Newhaven Harbour and its pretty lighthouse. After a warming meal, why not enjoy a leisurely stroll along the quay? Alternatively, soak up some local history with a peek at the restaurant’s esteemed gallery of Hill and Adamson photographs.

With a treasure of a restaurant, The Peacock Inn boasts a deservedly excellent reputation amongst locals and visitors alike. After one visit, you’ll be back before you know it.
