The Clay Oven
The clay oven has a long and varied history, with plenty of speculation as to who came up with the idea of cooking in this way; in what is now known as a tandoor. What we can be sure of, however, is that this method of cooking tenderises meat and poultry, lending it a distinctive flavour and resulting in melt-in-the-mouth dishes. The cuisine on offer at The Clay Oven in Edinburgh is no exception – the extensive menu covers all manner of regional Indian cuisine. Specialities include aloo gosht, with lamb and potato cubes, and the ginger murgh, with fiery chicken, ginger and coriander. A special business lunch is available between noon and 2pm on a daily basis, and offers three courses for £5.95. Their Sunday buffet runs from noon until 10pm and features a choice of 20 different items for just £9.95. There is also a free local delivery and takeaway service, allowing customers to enjoy The Clay Oven’s exceptional cuisine at home.
