Using quality Scottish produce and specially selected ingredients from Thailand, this excellent restaurant creates top-notch Thai cuisine in Edinburgh. Thaifood lovers will be in raptures over the likes of tod mun pla to start (Thai-style fishcakes made with fresh cod, served with homemade cucumber sauce), perhaps followed by something from the grill – highly recommended is the Crying Tiger dish, featuring chargrilled marinated meats cooked in Oriental spices, served with homemade chilli sauce. From the wok come treats such as gai som – marinated crispy chicken breasts topped with orange and lime sauce. Curry fans and vegetarians are equally well catered for. Siam Thani is handily located close to the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre, making it perfect for a pre or post-show meal. The interior is beautifully decorated with Thai wood carvings, paintings and artefacts, and there’s room for 60 guests to dine in elegant comfort.
