Nobles Bar
This classic Victorian bar, owned and run by the fledgling Taylor family, has established a top reputation as the perfect foodie retreat. Log-burning stoves, candles, deep leather Chesterfield sofas, classic literature and the day’s newspapers lend a relaxed feel.
With huge colourful stained-glass windows and original features, Nobles has a wonderful old-world quality that just can’t be faked. The emphasis here is on traditional Scottish hospitality with a modern flavour. But there’s nothing archaic about this venue with its fresh and artistic furnishings, delicious real ales and up to a dozen wines by the glass.
The kitchen makes expert use of the best local ingredients. Food is taken seriously, but not so much as to marginalise the drinker. Nobles is also a very popular destination for hungry souls seeking a good weekend brunch, and anyone who has tried the Nobles Benedict will understand why. Their organic Fairtrade coffee is also made very well indeed.
Music plays a large part in the day-to-day life of Nobles, and you can expect to see top-drawer original live music from Tuesday through to the weekend, after food service is completed. There’s free highspeed Wi-Fifor your laptop, and children and well-behaved, dry dogs are welcome.
