The McKirdys, butchers from the area of East Lothian and Edinburgh, have been providing people with quality meat since 1895. Today, you can sample their sumptuous steaks at McKirdy's Steakhouse. Brothers Colin and Richard McKirdy are continuing the family tradition, supplying the steakhouse with prime Scottish beef from the McKirdy butcher shop at Port Seton.
The McKirdys have built up an impeccable reputation for tradition and quality, and they are constantly recognised for their skill and expertise. In 2005 their pork sausages won an award for 'Best in South East Scotland' and 1998 saw their haggis bring home the award for 'Best Scottish Haggis' at the Scottish Haggis Championships. Haggis is one of the most exciting ways to kick off your meal at McKirdy's - the 'haggis tower' is topped with turnip and potatoes, and accompanied by a rich whisky sauce. The extensive menu includes juicy burgers, treats 'from the butcher's block', bangers and mash, and more. All steaks can be accompanied by a sauce of your choice - try the McKirdy's Clansman sauce, a deliciously Scottish sauce of cream, haggis and Drambuie, or their Diane, a punchy combination of tomato, mushrooms, French mustard and brandy. McKirdy's also offers an excellent Stilton sauce, which is best enjoyed poured lavishly over the steak. This steakhouse has everything a truly ravenous meat-lover could wish for - from starters, sides and sauces, steaks, burgers and racks, to desserts, coffees and a cheeseboard. McKirdy's even caters for vegetarians, and children will be delighted with their own menu of miniature meals.
McKirdy's charming, casual vibe and fantastic food have Edinburgh locals returning time and again, and those in the know travel across the country just to grab a table at their favourite steakhouse. Could this be the best steakhouse this side of Texas? Book a table tonight, either by phone or online, and judge for yourself.
