La P’tite Folie literally translates as ‘The Little Madness’, although at this fabulous French restaurant, you won’t find anything that’s mad or little – except the price.

You can find La P’tite Folie in two areas of Edinburgh’s New Town. Both restaurants boast the same fantastic cuisine, while showcasing their own individual character. At Randolph Place you will find an old Tudor house, lovingly transformed into a charmingly cosy eatery. The Frederick Street restaurant has its own quirks, oozing Parisian chic from every floorboard and film poster.

Whichever destination you choose, you can be assured of being treated to the finest French cuisine. Dishes include the succulent roast breast of Barbary duck with roasted figs and Grand Marnier jus, as well as the brilliant pan-seared halibut with fennel confit and mussel cream sauce. Fine wines are a main feature, just as you would expect from such an outstanding French restaurant.

La P’tite Folie isn’t just about superb cuisine, however. Virginie, the proprietor, sponsors over 800 orphans from Ethiopia to ensure they get a decent meal every day. With so much commitment to everything she turns her hand to, it is no wonder La P’tite Folie flourishes so magnificently.
